Hewlett-Packard's so-so second-quarter results late Tuesday and cautious revenue outlook tempered hopes that the tech sector has reached or is near a bottom.
Prices for flash memory have doubled over the past 4 months to more than $2 a gigabyte, SanDisk (SNDK) CEO Eli Harari said. He added that 2009 could turn out to be "significantly better" than anticipated at the start of the year, as big cutbacks in flash memory production bring balance back to an industry stung by oversupply. Harari, who heads the No. 1 maker of flash memory cards used in digital cameras and other devices, warned visibility is still low. SanDisk slid 1.9% to 14.45.
