Unique Trading Opportunities with NASDAQ-100® (NDX) Options Does VXN, the CBOE NASDAQ-100 Volatility Index, give us a clue to market direction?
Thursday, May 20th
3:30 pm CST
Join Peter Lusk, Options Institute Instructor and former CBOE Market Maker, as he discusses strategy selection using NDX options when volatility is rising or falling. Peter will also lead a discussion regarding how spreads can mitigate the risk of volatility and time decay and stress the importance of how trading requires a 3-part forecast.
The NDX, the NASDAQ-100 Index, is the leading price performer of the major US large cap indexes. The NDX is a capitalization-weighted index composed of 100 of the largest non-financial securities listed on the NASDAQ stock market.
There are eighty different products licensed off the NASDAQ-100 including the VXN, the CBOE NASDAQ-100 Volatility Index. The VXN is an up to the minute market estimate of expected volatility that is calculated using real-time NDX option bid/ask quotes. VXN uses options listed on the CBOE with at least 8 days left until expiration and weights them to yield a constant 30 day measure of the expected volatility of the NASDAQ-100 Index.
